Polish President Andrzej Duda has signed a law suspending the European Conventional Forces Treaty (CFE Treaty).

This development was reported from the presidential office, the Report reported, citing Polish media.

The suspension of the treaty will lead to Warsaw remaining an official party to the treaty, but will not fulfil its provisions.

The CFE Treaty was signed in Paris in 1990. In 2007, Moscow declared a moratorium on the implementation of its provisions because it had not been ratified by NATO countries. In 2015, Russia completed the process of suspending its participation in the CFE Treaty, but officially remained in the treaty.
