Disruptions in arms supplies have shaken Ukraine’s confidence in its Western partners.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told Reuters after a one-day visit to Kiev, APA reports.
Stoltenberg cited as examples of NATO allies’ failures the more than six-month delay in the adoption of a new US aid program for Ukraine and Europe’s failure to deliver the 1 million artillery shells previously promised.
Stoltenberg said these delays had a serious impact on the battlefield in Ukraine, with the result that Russia gained the advantage and the AFU was forced to go on the defensive.
“The fact that we have not delivered what we promised, of course, undermines trust,” Stoltenberg said, but added that Kiev still trusts its allies.
Stoltenberg said such shortcomings showed it was time to rethink the coordination of international military assistance to Kiev.
