Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham have signed a Joint Statement of Intent on cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence to create cutting-edge defence solutions.

According to Report, citing Ukrainian media, the agreement was signed during a meeting between the leaders in Kyiv.

“I am very pleased that you have decided to visit our country, especially today, on our most important day – Independence Day,” said Zelenskyy, thanking the UK for its financial and military support.

For his part, Burnham reaffirmed London’s unwavering support for Kyiv, emphasising that he had deemed it necessary to make his first overseas visit as Prime Minister to Ukraine.

“It has been an honour to be with you today. And we will stand with you right to the very end,” concluded the British Prime Minister.

It should be noted that the agreement provides for the joint development, based on AI, of technologies and autonomous systems for data transmission and the protection of military facilities, microchips for drones on a pilot basis, as well as cooperation between the defence industry and research centres.
