He graduated in 1981 from the Turkish Military Academy and in 1990 from the Turkish Military Academy. He served as a commander and project officer in various units and headquarters of the Turkish Armed Forces, and served abroad in UN, NATO and international headquarters and multinational peacekeeping missions. In 2011, he retired at the rank of Brigadier General. He received his doctorate and associate professorship degrees in International Relations. His research interests include Turkish foreign policy, Asia-Pacific, Middle East regional studies, international security, conflict and peace studies, strategy and geopolitics. In this context, he has various academic publications in Turkish and English. He is the author and editor of Failed States: Concepts, Causes and Consequences (2016), The New Middle East: Dynamics, Actors and Processes (2017), The Turkish Army after July 15: Crisis and Exit (2017), Change in Diplomacy: Theories, Concepts and Practices (2020), Security Studies (Volume-I): Theoretical Approaches (2020), Security Studies (Volume-II): Security Sectors and Issues (2022), "The Taliban Era in Afghanistan: A Regional-Global Perspective and Analysis from Turkey's Perspective". "Security Studies-III: International Security Regimes and Organizations" and "Conflict and Peace: Concepts, Approaches and Applications" are under publication. He is a faculty member at Istanbul Arel University, Department of International Relations (English). He is the Director of the International Strategic Studies Application and Research Center (Arel USAM) of the same university.
