In his article titled “Expected Historical OTS Summit in Ankara: Secretariat General Passes to Uzbekistan for the First Time,” the head of the research center emphasized that the upcoming meeting takes place amid rising global instability and geopolitical tensions.

Professor Erol noted that Türkiye’s chairmanship and the upcoming appointment of Uzbekistan’s representative to the post of Secretary General open up new opportunities for the institutional development of the organization.

The expert highlighted the special significance of the strategic partnership between Ankara and Tashkent, based on close cooperation between Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He stressed that Uzbekistan’s experience in multilateral diplomacy will serve to expand practical cooperation among Turkic states.

Mehmet Seyfettin Erol pointed out trade and investment, transport connectivity, development of the Middle Corridor, digitalization, energy and environmental security, and joint efforts against transboundary threats as key priority areas.

According to the author, the Ankara Summit will mark a crucial milestone in the OTS’s transition from political dialogue to deeper economic and institutional integration, strengthening the position of the Turkic world in the emerging multipolar system of international relations.
