Prof. Mehmet Seyfettin Erol, born in 1969 in Dörtyol-Hatay, graduated from Boğaziçi University (BU) Department of Political Science and International Relations in 1993. In 1995 he finished his master in Boğazici University and was admitted to PhD program in the Boğazici University at the same year. Having completed his doctorate in Ankara University in 2005, he received his associate professorship in the field of "International Relations" in 2009 and his professorship title in 2014. Prof. Erol worked at the Eurasia Strategic Research Center (ASAM) between 2000-2006. In 2009, he became the Founding President and Chairman Member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Strategic Thinking (SDE). The founding president of the International Center for Strategy and Security Studies (USGAM), Prof. Erol is also the President of the New Turkey Strategic Research Center (YTSAM) International Relations Institute. Prof. Erol also served as the Director of the Gazi University Center for Strategic Studies (GAZİSAM). Erol who received the Turkish World Service Award from the Turkic World Writers and Artists Foundation in 2007, has been awarded numerous awards for his academic works and activities in the media. Some of them can be listed as following: The Written Media Award of the Year by the Association of Contemporary Democrats Union in 2013, APM 10th Anniversary Service Award in 2015, Press Writers Award of Turkey’s Writers Union 2015, 2016 Voluntary Ambassadors Media Honor Award of Anatolian Village Protectors and Martyrs’ Families, and Turkey’s Honor Award given by Yörük Türkmen Federations in 2016. Professor Erol has 15 books. Some of these names are as following: “From Dream to Reality Turkish United States”, “Turkey-EU Relations: Foreign Policy and Internal Structure Problems”, “New Great Game in Eurasia”, “Strategy Searches in Turkish Foreign Policy”, “Security Searching in Turkish Foreign Policy”, “Relations between the Republic of Turkey-Russian Federation”, “New NATO: Cold Organization of Hot Peace”, “Theoretical Approaches to Foreign Policy Analysis: The Case of Turkish Foreign Policy”, “Crises and Crisis Management: Actors and Case Studies”, “Kazakhstan” and “Current Issues in International Relations”. Since 2002, Prof. Erol has worked as the producer of the radio programs such as “Eurasian Agenda”, “Strategic View”, “Global View”, “Analysis”, “File”, “News Desk” in Voice of Turkey TRT and Radio TRT 1. Between 2004-2007 he worked as the producer of TV program “Searching” on TRT INT TV, as the producer of TV program “Beyond Borders” on Channel A between 2007-2010 and in 2020-2021, he made the "Foreign Policy Agenda" programs on BBN TÜRK TV. Between 2012 and 2018, his foreign policy articles were published in his column called "Arayış" in the Milli Gazete. Erol's opinions are also consulted in the national and international media in many televisions, radio, newspapers, news sites and magazines as part of his expertise. Lecturing at Gazi University International Relations Department and Ankara University Latin American Studies Center (LAMER) between 2006-2018, Prof. Erol has been continuing his academic career as a faculty member at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, Department of International Relations since 2018. While his articles and reviews were published in many magazines and newspapers, he is working as an editor in academic journals such as Eurasia File, Strategic Analysis, Strategic Thinking, Gazi Regional Studies, The Journal of SSPS and Black Sea Studies. Prof. Erol is also the editor of the journals of Regional Studies, International Crisis and Political Studies, Gazi Academic Perspective, Ege University Turkish World Studies, and Democracy Platform currently.
