Azerbaijan and Iran discussed cooperation in regional and international organizations

Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Yalcin Rafiyev met with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Head of the Center for Political and International Studies of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Said Khatibzadeh, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

According to the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, the sides exchanged views on the issues on the agenda of bilateral relations following the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Azerbaijan on April 28, 2025. They also discussed ways to develop relations between Azerbaijan and Iran within the framework of regional and international organizations. Both sides emphasized that mutual support and coordination on these platforms will serve the common interests of the two countries. The sides also noted the importance of strengthening contacts and cooperation between research centers and think tanks in Azerbaijan and Iran. It was noted that such initiatives will increase mutual understanding of the public opinion of the two countries and give impetus to cooperation in various fields. In addition, various issues such as regional security, economic cooperation and global developments were also discussed at the meeting.
