China has expressed its readiness to act together with the BRICS countries against the United States’ actions against the global trade order. The statement was made by Chinese officials at an online meeting of the BRICS Liaison Group on Economic and Trade Affairs.
The meeting was held virtually on Monday, hosted by Brazil, the BRICS chair for 2025. Officials from BRICS member countries took a common stance against unilateralism and trade protectionism, addressing rising global trade tensions due to unilateral “reciprocal tariffs” by the United States. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce called on BRICS countries to refrain from trade-restrictive measures, promote open and stable economic cooperation, and bring greater benefits to enterprises and people in all countries.
