The Azerbaijan National Demining Agency (ANAMA) has published its monthly report on demining operations carried out in the territories liberated from Armenian occupation.
ANAMA informed Caliber.Az that 302 personnel mines, 79 anti-tank mines and 3,047 unexploded ordnance (UXO) were detected and neutralized in Tartar, Agdere, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khankendi, Khojavend, Lachin, Shusha, Fizuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil and Zangilan regions during April. ANAMA announced that 6,365 hectares of land were cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance in support of security and reconstruction efforts. This work is enabling the safe return of displaced persons and the continuation of infrastructure projects. Azerbaijan has stepped up demining operations in the Karabakh region as mines laid by Armenian forces during their decades-long occupation continue to pose a deadly threat. ANAMA is conducting large-scale clearance operations using high-tech equipment and trained personnel.
