Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met on Wednesday with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, President Lula emphasized the strong mutual trust and deepening collaboration between Brazil and China across various sectors. He noted that Brazil’s steadfast friendship with China has proven to be the right choice and serves as a model for South-South cooperation. Lula expressed his desire to maintain close high-level exchanges with China, enhance economic and trade relations, and broaden mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as finance and energy. The Brazilian leader praised China’s firm and resolute response to “reciprocal tariffs,” describing it as admirable. He stated that China’s fair actions have received broad international support, in contrast to the unilateral and irresponsible practices of certain countries, which, he said, must be jointly opposed. He added that Brazil is ready to work with China to promote free trade, uphold international rules, and resist any attempts by powerful countries to undermine global justice. Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China is prepared to work with Brazil to implement the key agreements reached by the two heads of state and to achieve tangible results in building a China-Brazil community with a shared future.
