Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Plan to Double Trade Volume

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyar Saidov met in Astana. The sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between the countries. This was reported by “MIR24”.

During the meeting, Nurtleu and Saidov discussed issues related to the development of joint projects in various fields of the economy, including transport, water and industry. The possibility of increasing the transit potential and modernising checkpoints between the states was also considered.

It was also emphasised that the volume of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan annually approaches five billion dollars, and in the future the parties plan to double it with the help of joint projects and industrial cooperation.

For example, 12 joint projects totalling more than $150 million have already been launched between the republics.
