KazTransOil described this measure as coercion and recalled that they have not changed prices for several years.
Kazakhstan has cancelled the transit of Russian oil “Tuimazy – Omsk – Novosibirsk-2” (“TON-2”) main pipeline section from $9.3 to $11.3 per tonne per 1000 kilometres from 1 January 2024.
This increase was 21.5 per cent at once, as the previous tariff was set in April 2018.
“TON-2 runs through Kazakhstan and Russia, and the Kazakh section of this pipeline is used to supply oil to the Pavlodar petrochemical plant, as well as to transit Russian oil to China and Uzbekistan. “KazTransOil also transports Kazakh oil through Russia, and in 2023 shipments to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline reached almost 1 million tonnes.
KazTransOil, whose board of directors is chaired by Bulat Zakirov, said the tariff increase was necessary due to changes in the economic situation.
