Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that work on the memorandum of understanding on a possible Russia-Ukraine peace agreement is actively underway.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Peskov said that most of the work was being carried out in secret “for obvious reasons.” He stressed that Russia is open to the efforts of any country that wants to contribute to resolving the conflict with Ukraine. No decision has yet been made on where the next round of talks will take place, Peskov said, adding that Russia is also focusing on the implementation of the Istanbul agreement with Ukraine on the exchange of 1,000 prisoners. Meanwhile, in a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump on Monday, it was announced that Russia had agreed to prepare a draft memorandum outlining a possible peace deal with Ukraine. This document is expected to include the basic principles for resolving the crisis, the timetable for a possible peace agreement and the conditions for a temporary ceasefire.
