Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a bilateral meeting ahead of the Second Central Asia–China Summit, which took place today in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. During the meeting, the parties focused on deepening bilateral relations and expanding the scope of regional cooperation.

Mirziyoyev expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of the strategic agreements signed with China last year. He emphasized that the bilateral trade volume reached $14 billion in 2024 and that the investment contract portfolio exceeded $60 billion. He also noted the expansion of joint technology parks and industrial zones, as well as the production of BYD electric vehicles. Xi Jinping also emphasized China’s geographical and strategic expansion goals in areas such as infrastructure construction (particularly the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway), energy, digitalization, and smart agriculture during the meeting. It was also announced that the protocol finalizing negotiations on Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization was signed in the presence of the leaders of both countries during the summit.
