On November 27, the President of Russia paid a state visit to Kazakhstan. Talks with the Kazakh leader covered a wide range of topics, including political, economic and humanitarian cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the development of the gas industry.
The Russian President noted significant progress in energy cooperation with Kazakhstan. On the agenda is the construction of three new thermal power plants in the country. Russia’s Gazprom ensures stable gas supplies to Kazakh consumers and processes fuel from the Karachaganak field at the Orenburg gas chemical complex.
Since last year, Russia has started to transit gas through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, and this volume will be increased.
Strengthening energy cooperation between Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan helps stabilize gas supply in Central Asia. Expanded supplies will support the economic development of the region by increasing energy supply for both industry and domestic consumers.
Increasing gas supplies from Russia to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan will be an important step in strengthening the countries’ economic ties and energy stability in the region.
