The UK has upgraded its diplomatic relations with Venezuela by appointing an ambassador to the country.
According to Report, citing Reuters, this is stated in a written statement from the British government submitted to Parliament.
It is noted that the decision forms part of broader international engagement.
“This approach does not reflect any change in the UK’s assessment of recent electoral processes, including the elections held in 2024, nor does it imply endorsement of any particular party. The UK’s long-standing position is to recognise states, not governments,” the statement reads.
