Tunisian Minister of National Defence Imad Mamish and Admiral Robert Bauer, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, discussed cooperation and ways to expand it.

This was reported by the Tunis Afrique Presse news agency.

According to him, the minister drew attention to “the development of cooperation with NATO, which contributes to increasing the defence capabilities of the Tunisian armed forces, especially after Tunisia gained the status of an important non-NATO ally in 2015.”

Mamish reiterated the willingness of the Ministry of National Defence of the North African country to “implement partnership mechanisms with NATO, intensify cooperation in the field of training and exchange experiences in a spirit of mutual respect and trust to the benefit of both sides”.

Bauer praised the level of co-operation between Tunisia and NATO, noting in particular the “capacity building of the Tunisian army in all military fields”. He reiterated the Alliance’s willingness to further develop this cooperation.
