Swedish and US Defence Ministers Paul Johnson and Lloyd Austin will hold talks in Washington on 5 December.

This information was provided by the Swedish government office, the Report reported, citing TASS.

During the meeting, the parties will also sign a military cooperation agreement (DCA, Defence Cooperation Agreement).

“Defence Minister Paul Jonsson is visiting the United States with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Sweden and the United States. A major step in these efforts will be taken on Tuesday 5 December, when the two countries will sign the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA),” the statement said.

Swedish media reported in early November that Sweden and the US had completed negotiations on a military co-operation agreement that would give the US access to some military bases in Sweden, the name of which will be announced after the DCA is signed.

The US will have facilities where it can store military equipment such as combat vehicles, ammunition and weapon systems. US military personnel will be subject to US law while on Swedish territory.
