The European Parliament (EP) has officially suspended voting on the ratification of a trade agreement with the US for an indefinite period.
According to Report, this was announced by the DPA agency, citing the chairmen of the EP’s trade committee.
‘By threatening the territorial integrity and sovereignty of an EU member state and using tariffs as a tool of coercion, the US is undermining the stability and predictability of trade relations between the EU and the US,’ said Bernd Lange, chair of the European Parliament’s trade committee.
He stressed that work on the agreement has been suspended until the US decides to resume cooperation instead of continuing the confrontation.
Earlier, Teresa Ribera, Vice-President of the European Commission (EC) responsible for competition issues, said that EU countries should not abandon any measures that may be necessary to protect the interests of the community against the backdrop of US claims to Greenland.
