Göktuğ Çalışkan, a foreign policy analyst at the Ankara Crisis and Policy Studies Center, describes Türkiye in his article for Daily Sabah as a proactive and multidimensional regional actor with the capacity to generate stability in the Western Mediterranean. According to Çalışkan, at a time when global power competition is intensifying and Europe faces increasing fragility in the face of security and migration challenges, the strategic partnership developing between Türkiye and Morocco constitutes a new axis of stability. He argues that economic relations between the two countries have evolved beyond conventional trade patterns toward joint production, investment, and industrial cooperation; Morocco’s Atlantic positioning, in this context, provides Türkiye with a strategic gateway to African markets.

Çalışkan further maintains that cooperation in the defense industry plays a critical role in reshaping the balance in the Western Mediterranean. He interprets Morocco’s procurement of unmanned aerial vehicles from Türkiye not merely as an increase in military capacity, but also as a process that may foster technology transfer and local production capabilities. In his analysis, Türkiye–Morocco relations are thus framed as a mutually beneficial and complementary partnership model that strengthens strategic autonomy and contributes to regional stability.
