Expansion of Cooperation Between Azerbaijan and IMF Discussed

Discussions were held between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on expanding cooperation in fiscal policies and reform agenda.

According to a report by Trend News Agency citing the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan, an online meeting was held on June 13 between Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance Sahil Babayev and Patrick Loszewski, Executive Director of the IMF selection group, which includes Azerbaijan. During the meeting, satisfaction with the current cooperation between Azerbaijan and the IMF was expressed, and the Azerbaijani government’s willingness to further develop this cooperation was emphasized. It was noted that the technical assistance programs and advisory services provided by the IMF have made significant contributions to strengthening the country’s macroeconomic stability and fiscal management. The parties also conducted comprehensive assessments on public finance management, fiscal policies, and the priorities of ongoing reforms. During the meeting, ideas were exchanged on areas where cooperation could be further developed in the future.
