Regular consular consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Iran were held today in Tehran. The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Affairs Department of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, while the Iranian delegation was led by Mucteba Shasti Kerimi, Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. The meeting was also attended by officials from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran and the Consulate General in Tabriz, representatives of the foreign ministries of the two countries, as well as officials from the Ministries of Justice and Interior, migration and border services. During the talks, the current state of bilateral cooperation in the consular sphere and prospects for its development were discussed. The sides agreed to increase cooperation in order to address the challenges arising from the issues of protecting the rights and legal interests of citizens, providing them with effective and prompt consular assistance. They exchanged views on bilateral cooperation between the internal affairs, justice, migration, border and customs services and emphasized the importance of joint work to strengthen ties in the relevant areas.
