Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Discussed Between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia

Sahibe Gafarova, Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, met with Afrim Gaşi, Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, who arrived in Baku for official talks. During the meeting, issues such as the development of relations between the two countries within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy, regional stability, and mutual cooperation were discussed.

According to a statement made by the National Assembly to the Trend news agency, the visiting delegation first visited the General Assembly Hall of the Azerbaijan National Assembly, followed by a tour of the Heydar Aliyev Museum. Speaker Afrim Gashi signed the Guest Book in memory of the visit. The parties emphasized that inter-parliamentary relations are one of the fundamental elements contributing to bilateral and multilateral cooperation. It was stated that closer cooperation is needed in areas such as intensifying contacts between relevant parliamentary committees and parliamentary friendship groups, and sharing experience in lawmaking. During the meeting, the possibilities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia in the political, economic, cultural, humanitarian, educational, and scientific fields were evaluated. The role of mutual high-level visits and contacts at the leadership level in the development of relations was highlighted, and the official visit of North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova to Azerbaijan in March 2025 was cited as a positive example.
