Azerbaijan explores role of technology in combating disinformation

The parallel discussions focused on “Technologies and Disinformation,” addressing critical issues in the modern media landscape were held in Azerbaijan within the 2nd Shusha Global Media Forum on July 21.

The event featured a presentation by Vugar Javadov, founder and director of Neurotime company, highlighting the intersection of technology and disinformation, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.

Javadov underscored the detrimental impact of fake news on societal trust, public opinion, and social divisions.

He stressed the urgent need to enhance media literacy, fact-checking practices, and critical thinking among the public.

Moreover, Javadov emphasised the role of technology companies developing artificial intelligence in combating misinformation.

He advocated for the deployment of cross-sectional analysis tools, fact-checking technologies, and rapid dissemination methods to counter the spread of fake news effectively.

The discussions, attended by technology experts, journalists, and stakeholders, facilitated an exchange of views on the consequences of disinformation proliferation. Participants explored the potential of innovative technologies in shaping the future of media and enhancing information integrity.

The 2nd Shusha Global Media Forum on “Unmasking False Narratives: Confronting Disinformation” is taking place in the cultural capital of Azerbaijan on July 20-22.

The Forum, attended by over 150 foreign guests from around 50 countries, including news agencies of 30 countries, three international organizations, and 82 media entities, provides a platform for joint discussions and actions among participants.
