The next meeting of the Railway Transport Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries will be held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in November 2025.
According to the statement, the 82nd meeting of the Council was held in Dushanbe on June 10–11, 2025, during Tajikistan’s presidency. Representatives from the railway administrations of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan attended the meeting. Observer members from countries such as Georgia, Iran, Latvia, and Estonia were also present at the meeting. Representatives from the International Confederation of Railway Workers’ Unions, the CIS Executive Committee, and the Intergovernmental Road Council also participated in the event. Within the scope of the meeting, a special strategic group was formed to work on the development of international transport corridors. This group will work on issues such as the effective management of transport corridors, harmonization of tariffs, acceleration of digitalization processes, and improvement of logistics services. Additionally, a report covering the Council’s activities for the 2020–2024 period was approved and submitted to the CIS Executive Committee. The next meeting in Baku is expected to lay the groundwork for important decisions regarding the integration of regional transportation networks and the strengthening of Eurasian transportation.
