Kazakhstan will not raise tariffs on goods from the United States as a retaliatory measure.
According to the Kazakh bureau of Report, this was announced by Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov at a press conference in Astana.
He explained that 95% of Kazakhstan’s exports to the US are not subject to the tariffs proposed by US President Donald Trump. The remaining 5% ‘do not carry a critical load.’
‘Nevertheless, we are in negotiations with the American side,’ Bektenov stressed.
As reported, the US announced its intention to impose a 25% tariff on imports of Kazakhstani goods from 1 August 2025.
In a reply letter to Donald Trump, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev confirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to continue constructive dialogue with the aim of finding a rational solution to trade issues. Tokayev also expressed confidence that a compromise would be reached on this issue.
