Denmark and the US will establish a high-level working group to discuss the situation surrounding Greenland.

According to Report, this was announced by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen at a press conference in Washington following meetings with the American side.

“We believe that this group should focus on finding ways to address US security concerns while respecting the red lines of the Kingdom of Denmark. We expect this group to hold its first meeting within a few weeks,” he said.

At the same time, he stated that any violation of the territorial integrity of Denmark and Greenland would be completely unacceptable. “However, we have not been able to convince the US to abandon its desire to take possession of Greenland. But the island will remain part of the Kingdom of Denmark for the foreseeable future,” the minister stressed.

Rasmussen also refuted US claims about China’s military presence in Greenland, saying that it had been observed at sea 10 years ago. He noted that Denmark and Greenland are ready to constructively consider any US requests regarding the island’s security.
