Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili paid an official visit to Budapest, Hungary, to participate in the high-level conference of the Speakers of the Parliaments of the European Union member states and partner countries.
During the visit, President Papuashvili is expected to address both sessions of the conference and share Georgia’s progress in the field of European integration, regional security, economic cooperation and democratic reforms with the representatives of the participating countries. Papuashvili is also expected to emphasize Georgia’s foreign policy priorities and its commitment to deepening relations with Europe. During the event, the Speaker of the Parliament will hold bilateral meetings with high-ranking legislators of various countries and discuss ways to improve bilateral parliamentary relations. The meetings will also be important in terms of seeking support for Georgia’s EU accession process. The Georgian delegation includes Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, and Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee. Both committee chairs are expected to make contacts within the framework of the conference and take initiatives to further strengthen Georgia’s ties with European institutions.
