South Korea will take over the presidency of the UN Security Council in June.

According to the US bureau of the report, Hwang Joon-kook, South Korea’s Permanent Representative to the world organisation, gave a briefing on issues that will be on the Council’s agenda during the month.

Two meetings on cyber security are planned during this time, he said.

‘On the agenda is the ongoing war in the Middle East and the discussion of the draft resolution proposed by Algeria on the conflict. Discussions and negotiations may take some time. At the moment, the situation in Gaza tells us that negotiations should resume,’ he said.

According to the diplomat, a UN Security Council meeting is also planned for June to discuss North Korea’s provocations against South Korea.

‘North Korea is currently carrying out provocations, including short-range ballistic missile tests and military intelligence actions. We are resolutely responding to these provocations,’ Hwang Joon-kook said.
