South Korean National Security Advisor and Japanese Prime Minister’s Special Advisor Meet in Seoul

South Korean National Security Advisor Wi Sung-lac met with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba’s special advisor Akihisa Nagashima in Seoul on Monday. The meeting focused on steps that could be taken to improve bilateral relations between South Korea and Japan.

According to a statement made to reporters by Presidential Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung, the two sides met for breakfast early in the day. Spokesperson Kang said, “The two sides exchanged views on improving bilateral relations and agreed to maintain close communication going forward.” It was noted that Nagashima, the Japanese Prime Minister’s special advisor, is in Seoul to attend a reception marking the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Japan.
