According to the Georgian Dream party, a high-ranking parliamentary delegation is currently visiting the People’s Republic of China to hold strategic meetings aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.
During the visit, Georgian politicians held high-level, multi-sectoral meetings with representatives of the ruling Chinese Communist Party, the National People’s Congress, the Center for Language and Education Cooperation (CLEC) under the Ministry of Education, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Technical Equipment (CCTIP), the Shenzhen Municipal Government, and leading technology companies.
Georgia is recognised as a country of geostrategic importance, serving as a key hub of the transcontinental Middle Corridor transport route connecting Europe and Asia. Since 2022, the strategic role of this transit infrastructure has grown significantly, reflected in a 30% increase in cargo turnover.
The European Union’s official position underscores the global relevance of regional cooperation. For China, deepening relations with Georgia is part of its broader strategy to develop alternative routes to European markets, particularly important in light of current geopolitical constraints affecting northern transport corridors.
