Kazakhstan and Singapore are set to expand their cooperation in the fields of multimodal transport, trade and digitalisation, with a focus on the development of the Middle Corridor.
According to the Kazakhstani bureau of Report, a memorandum to this effect was signed between the two countries’ companies, Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise, following a meeting between Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektanov and Singapore’s Senior Minister Li Xianlong.
The document provides for the introduction of modern approaches to the development of transport and trade ecosystems, the digitalisation of logistics processes and the improvement of the efficiency of multimodal transport. Particular attention will be paid to realising the potential of the Middle Corridor, which links China and the countries of Central Asia with European markets via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Turkey.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the prospects for further expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation. In the first six months of 2026, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Singapore reached $777 million, a 2.5-fold increase compared with the same period last year. By the end of 2025, the gross inflow of foreign direct investment from Singapore to Kazakhstan stood at around $1.5 billion.
Other promising areas for bilateral cooperation include digitalisation, artificial intelligence, the agro-industrial sector and the transport and logistics sector.
