On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s 80th Session, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed solidarity with Venezuela against external threats and interference in its internal affairs. He stressed that using coercive pressure on sovereign states as a foreign policy tool is unacceptable and reaffirmed Russia’s full support for Caracas in defending national sovereignty. During talks with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto, both sides noted their converging positions on key global issues and agreed to deepen coordination in multilateral forums, particularly within the Group of Friends of the UN Charter. They also emphasized strengthening strategic partnership through political dialogue, trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as expanding cultural, humanitarian, and educational exchanges.
