Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan signed 17 documents on cooperation.
The signatures were signed following talks between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Trend reported on Thursday.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan signed a joint statement on further deepening and expansion of relations of comprehensive strategic partnership.
In particular, the following documents were signed:
-Intergovernmental agreement on holiday and recreational facilities located in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan;
-Protocol on the amendment of the intergovernmental agreement on mutual travelling of citizens;
-protocol on the completion of bilateral negotiations on the accession of Uzbekistan to the World Trade Organisation;
-protocol on cooperation in the field of construction activities;
-Protocol on cooperation in the field of labour, employment and migration;
-protocol on cooperation in the field of culture and art;
-protocol on cooperation in the field of public service;
-Plan of measures to increase the volume of mutual trade for 2024-2030;
-Plan of practical measures for the development of cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports for 2024-2026;
-a roadmap for the further development of cooperation in the field of agriculture and food supply for 2024-2026;
-an action plan for the development of cooperation between the cities of Tashkent and Bishkek for 2024-2026;
-Memorandum between the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Institute of Strategic Initiatives under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, and others.
It should be noted that the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in January-May 2024 reached $ 294.3 million. This figure is 42.8 per cent less than in the same period last year ($ 2023 million in January-May 420.4).
Uzbekistan’s exports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $ 195.3 million, while imports from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan reached $ 99 million.
