President of Tajikistan met with the President of the World Bank Group

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of the World Bank Group Ajay Banga in Dubai within the framework of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon highlighted the World Bank’s significant contribution to financing climate change adaptation and mitigation projects. Rahman also described the organisation as one of the main partners of his country and spoke about the high level of interaction between Tajikistan and the Bank. This was reported by the press service of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the meeting, Emomali Rahmon and Ajay Banga discussed the current cooperation in various fields, ranging from energy and water supply to economy and social protection of the population. The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.

“During the meeting, the Leader of the Nation emphasised the need to continue the implementation of the CASA-1000 transmission line project, which connects the energy market of Central and South Asia through Afghanistan,” the press service quoted the Tajik President as saying.

At the end of the meeting Emomali Rahmon invited the President of the World Bank to visit Tajikistan.
