The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed the expansion of their strategic partnership and investment cooperation at a meeting held on Thursday on the sidelines of the seventh summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku.
It is noted that the parties welcomed the further development of bilateral relations and practical cooperation in various fields. It was emphasised that, thanks to consistent high-level dialogue in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar have entered a new phase of development. Qatari companies are actively cooperating with Uzbekistan in the energy sector, the chemical industry, food security, transport, construction and other sectors. Since the beginning of 2026, the volume of investments under development has also increased significantly.
Furthermore, the parties noted the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties, which contribute to bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together.
During the meeting, the leaders identified priority areas for further bilateral cooperation. A high-level delegation from Uzbekistan is expected to attend the Doha Forum in December, during which meetings of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council are also scheduled.
Furthermore, the parties exchanged views on current international and regional issues.
