Chinese Foreign Minister and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Wang Yi said that dialogue among civilizations should be strengthened through the protection of justice, the promotion of mutual interaction, and the achievement of progress.

Wang Yi made this statement in a video message sent to an event organized as part of the “International Day of Intercultural Dialogue” declared by the United Nations. This special day is celebrated every year on June 10 in accordance with a resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2024 at the joint proposal of China and 82 other countries. Wang said, “The UN’s proclamation of the International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations reflects the common aspirations of the peoples of the world and the global will to promote the progress of humanity. This resolution was adopted unanimously by all member states.” Referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Global Civilization Initiative in his speech, Wang Yi emphasized that this initiative aims to promote common values of humanity, preserve and innovate the heritage of civilizations, and strengthen international exchanges and cooperation among peoples.
