There has not been enough time yet to “digest” the text of the draft of the new constitution of Armenia, to make relevant proposals that will be aimed at its change and amendment, Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan told reporters today.

“There are always differences of opinion, because we have not moved forward with ‘one-man’ decisions, we never have. There are disagreements around each legislative draft, and they are discussed, solutions are found,” she added.

To the remark that it is unclear why the text of the new constitution of Armenia is not being publicized, Galyan said: “It will be publicized when it is ready for publicizing. That means something that is not yet ready for publicizing. We decide whether it is ready to be presented to the public or not. I say the text is ready, it is up for discussions, it will be decided when it will be publicized.”

The justice minister informed that the option of publicizing it in parts was also discussed, but no decision has been made yet in that regard.

According to Galyan, there are several versions of the preamble to Armenia’s new constitution.

And when asked whether there is any reference to the Declaration of Independence of Armenia in those versions, she responded: “The text has not been publicized yet, you will see [for yourself] when it is publicized. There is no intrigue, I say what I want.”
