The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has called on Georgian authorities to hold new parliamentary elections to ensure fairness and transparency in the electoral process. This demand follows numerous complaints and allegations of irregularities during the previous elections.

In a resolution adopted by PACE, the need for reforms in Georgia’s electoral system was emphasized to strengthen democratic institutions and restore citizens’ trust in the political process. The Assembly also expressed concern over the political tensions in the country and urged all parties to engage in dialogue and compromise. Georgian authorities have not yet responded to this demand, but they have previously stated their willingness to cooperate with international organizations to improve the electoral system. PACE, in turn, has pledged to continue monitoring the situation in Georgia and to support the implementation of necessary reforms. This move by PACE highlights the importance of adhering to democratic standards and the rule of law in Georgia, which is a key aspect of the country’s further integration with the European Union and other international structures.
