Azerbaijan and Algeria Discuss Development of Bilateral Relations

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalcin Rafiyev paid an official visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Algeria.

Within the framework of the visit, the Second Round of Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Algeria was held in the capital of Algeria, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Trend. The Azerbaijani side was headed by Deputy Minister Yalcin Rafiyev, while the Algerian side was headed by Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lounes Magramane. During the talks, current political relations, trade-economic cooperation opportunities and inter-parliamentary contacts were discussed. It was emphasized that there is great potential for cooperation, especially in the oil and gas sector and renewable energy. They also discussed expanding cooperation in multilateral platforms such as the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement. The sides noted the importance of the OIC Summit, which will be hosted by Azerbaijan in 2026, and expressed confidence that Azerbaijan’s experience in international events will contribute to the success of this summit.
