Chinese Premier Li Qiang, during his meeting with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker in New York for the UN General Assembly, emphasized that China is ready to strengthen multilateral cooperation with Austria under the Global Governance Initiative. He noted that bilateral ties have developed steadily based on equality and mutual respect and highlighted next year’s 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to boost high-level exchanges and deepen cooperation in areas such as green transition, digital economy, trade, science, and technology. Li called on Austria to uphold the one-China principle and encouraged more Chinese investment in Austria. He also urged Austria, as an EU member, to promote a strategically autonomous, pragmatic, and long-term EU policy toward China, aimed at safeguarding multilateralism and free trade.
