A subsidiary of China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd., one of China’s largest container transport operators, will join Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd., a joint venture of the railway companies of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Georgia.
At an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting in Baku, the decision was made to integrate the Chinese company into the project, which is expected to strengthen the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM), boost competitiveness, accelerate logistics digitalization, and remove bottlenecks. The parties also agreed to jointly monitor container train transit times.
Currently, cargo from China to Europe via the Middle Corridor takes 15–18 days, nearly twice as fast as by sea. The meeting was attended by senior officials from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Georgia.
