A future gas pipeline to be built as part of the TRIPP project could become a new source of gas for Armenia, Armenian lawmaker Sarkis Khandanyan said during a briefing, Report informs.
He said that if the issue of revising the price of Russian gas arises, Armenia would discuss the matter with its Russian partners in a friendly manner.
At the same time, Khandanyan stressed the importance of diversification in this area.
He noted that during the latest visit of Armenia’s minister of territorial administration and Infrastructure to Iran, the possibility of increasing gas supplies from the Islamic Republic was discussed.
“The TRIPP project also concerns a gas pipeline. As part of the project, a gas pipeline will be built through the territory of Armenia. This is probably another opportunity to have an additional source of gas. Although this is, of course, theoretical, it would not be difficult to implement in practice,” Khandanyan said.
He also did not rule out, in theory, the possibility of direct gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
