South Korean First Deputy Foreign Minister Park Yoon-joo will depart for Malaysia on Wednesday to attend multilateral meetings with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other countries, including China and the US.

Park’s three-day visit to Kuala Lumpur will underscore South Korea’s commitment to ASEAN diplomacy and demonstrate the new government led by President Lee Jae Myung’s determination to strengthen relations with countries in the region. As the appointment process for the new foreign minister, who is still awaiting parliamentary approval, has not been completed, Park will represent South Korea at the meetings.
