South Korea is interested in implementing joint projects with Kyrgyzstan

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Head of the Presidential Administration Adylbek Kasymaliyev, met with a delegation of deputies led by Han Jong-ae, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and President of the Advisory Council on Water Resources of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, Trend reports.

According to the information, during the meeting, topical issues related to the growing demand for water resources against the backdrop of climate change, population growth, environmental protection and increased economic activity were discussed.

Adylbek Kasymaliyev stressed that Kyrgyzstan intends to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 16% by 2030, and with international support, by up to 44%, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

He recalled that since 2019, Kyrgyzstan has been a member of the Global Green Growth Institute, headquartered in Seoul. In 2023, a representative office of this institute was opened in Bishkek. A joint project is being implemented to increase climate resilience, aimed at combating floods and droughts in Central Asia.
