US President Donald Trump offered the European Union (EU) to purchase $1 trillion worth of American energy resources by the end of his presidential term in exchange for a 30% reduction in tariffs on European goods, which he had threatened to impose on Brussels.

‘At first, the figures were quite realistic, but then the president said, “I think you should purchase [energy resources] worth $1 trillion during my [presidential] term.” In the end, they settled on $750 billion, although even this amount may seem enormous to you,’ the source said.
