Top military officials from Cambodia and Thailand reached a ceasefire agreement during a meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The two sides signed a 13-point protocol aimed at reducing border tensions and restoring peace.
The high-level talks, lasting just over an hour, concluded with a memorandum of understanding expressing mutual commitment to de-escalation and conflict prevention. The agreement was developed over recent weeks by both defense ministries and Cambodia’s Grand Council Secretariat.
A Thai government spokesperson emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and bilateral dialogue. In a statement prior to the meeting, Gen. Nattaphon said both sides would create guidelines to resolve border disputes, rebuild trust between armed forces, and implement civilian protection measures.
