Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ratified the agreement on allied relations with Uzbekistan

Kazakhstan has ratified an agreement on alliance relations with Uzbekistan.

The relevant law was signed by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reported on Tuesday, citing Akorda.

It should be noted that the Treaty on Allied Relations was signed in Tashkent on 22 December 2022.

The purpose of the document is to bring Kazakh-Uzbek relations to a new level of interaction and bilateral cooperation, as well as to promote further strengthening of the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and sustainable economic development of the two states.

Under the Agreement, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reaffirm their commitment not to join any bloc or alliance and not to take any action against the other side.

In addition, the countries create favourable conditions for deepening mutual economic cooperation, strengthening and increasing the volume of trade, investments, entrepreneurship and other economic activities, developing an interconnected transport system, preserving the spiritual and cultural affinity of the peoples of the two countries, deepening mutual ties in the fields of science, education, medicine, sports, culture, tourism and information exchange.

The Agreement also contains provisions requiring the Parties to take measures for the rational use of transboundary water resources, the operation of water management facilities and the application of water-saving technologies.
