Lithuania, Azerbaijan hold interministerial political consultations

Political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Lithuania and Azerbaijan have taken place in Vilnius, with the participation of Deputy Foreign Ministers Audra Plepyte and Fariz Rzayev, Report informs referring to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry. The parties discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral relations, including the development of political, economic, cultural, and educational ties, as well as interaction between the EU and Azerbaijan and cooperation within international organizations.

Special attention was paid to the geopolitical situation in Europe and the South Caucasus, as well as Azerbaijan’s role in regional processes. The Lithuanian side welcomed the progress in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, expressing hope for the speedy signing of a peace agreement that will contribute to long-term stability in the region. Audra Plepytė also noted Azerbaijan’s contribution to supporting Ukraine in the energy sector, emphasizing that Kyiv’s consistent and long-term support is necessary both to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity and to ensure the security and stability of Europe.
