On Wednesday, the NATO Council approved the Alliance’s overall funding plan for 2027–2031, which sets out the framework for investment in the Alliance’s defence and civilian projects.
According to Report, this was announced by the organisation’s press office.
“Overall funding will reflect the Alliance’s heightened ambitions in the face of a more complex security environment,” the statement said.
As part of this decision, the allies agreed on funding ceilings for 2027 for the military and civilian budgets and NATO’s security investment programme, increasing the total funding to €6.5 billion.
The North Atlantic Council also approved a €27 billion plan to modernise military fuel depots, pipelines and fuel transport and distribution systems for the period up to 2031.
“The €27 billion investment will enable the modernisation of existing fuel storage and distribution infrastructure. This plan will enable the construction of new pipelines, including in the east and south-east of the Alliance, and ensure that NATO forces have the energy resources they need to maintain full combat readiness,” the document states.
